How to Retrieve Deleted Text Messages on iPhone
It’s quite easy to erase a text message from your phone; however, getting it back poses a challenge. The following article will cover a few tips that will help retrieval of deleted text messages on your iPhone.
Handed your phone to your little nephew, and when you got it back all your messages were gone? Had a lovers tiff and deleted all his messages; now that you guys have patched up you want to read all those beautiful messages again, but have no clue how to get them back? Well, not all hope is lost. Given below are some easy methods to retrieve the deleted messages on your iPhone, without breaking a sweat. Do keep in mind though, these aren’t foolproof methods, and there could be chances that you may not be able to retrieve all your messages. You could choose one of the following methods depending on whether your messages are from before, or after your last sync with iTunes.
To retrieve messages received before your last sync with iTunes
- Connect your iPhone to the computer, and launch iTunes. (Do not let iTunes sync with your phone automatically!)
- Follow this path –
Summary > Backups > This computer > Restore from Backup …
Alternatively, you could right-click on the phone icon in iTunes, and select Restore Backup …
NOTE: Restoring your phone will delete all existing data on your phone, and replace it with data that was last backed up on iTunes.
That should restore all your messages from the last time you synced your phone with iTunes.
To retrieve messages received after your last sync with iTunes
- Connect your phone to the computer, and launch iTunes (Do not let iTunes sync with your phone automatically!)
- Follow this path –
Summary > Backups > Backup Now
- Once the backup is created, follow this path –
Summary > Backups > This computer > Restore from Backup…
Alternatively, you could right-click on the phone icon in iTunes, and select Restore Backup…
This should help you recover the messages that were deleted after the last scheduled backup.
If you have an iCloud account, you could restore your data from it too, provided you haven’t synced with iCloud after you have deleted your messages.
