How to Burn PS3 Games

If you are clueless about burning PS3 games, this article will be a helpful read. Here you will find a simple explanation of the same.

For gamers, their most precious possessions are undoubtedly their game DVDs and Blu-ray disks. Like all storage devices, even optical disks have a limited life span. It is, therefore, necessary that you have a sound backup for your game disks.

Let's Work Together!

One of the biggest problems with burning PlayStation 3 (PS3) games is that all of them are written on Blu-ray disks. The introduction of these discs as default storage mediums for PS3 consoles has created a lot of controversy. There is no way that a DVD can accommodate a game that is burnt on a Blu-ray disk. Yes, Blu-ray disks can hold more data, but they are not that fast, when it comes to copying or installation. So, what does this mean for gamers who want to back up their best games? It is inevitable that they have a Blu-ray disk writer.

The game disks are write-protected. So, you cannot copy them directly. This feature is introduced by Sony to prevent the theft or piracy of games, that have been developed exclusively, for the PS3 platform. You will need to have a special software that can bypass the write-protection. I share information about burning PS3 games with the good faith that you need this information for backup purposes. Sharing copyrighted material or selling it is punishable by US laws. It will be good for you, if you keep this fact in mind.

The Procedure

First of all, you will need to buy or borrow a Blu-ray disk writer. They can be quite expensive. It may cost you around USD 600 to buy a new one. Once you get the writer, you have the main piece of hardware that you will need.

Besides the burner, you will obviously need the original game disks, along with blank Blu-ray disks, on which you can back up the games. Lastly, you will need a software that can bypass the copyright lock on the original disks and burn their copies onto blank disks.

One such software is ImgBurn, which can do the job for you. This is a free program that lets you copy and burn Blu-ray disk PS3 games. Download and get it installed on your computer. Once you do that, you can actually begin writing the disks. Firstly, insert the original disk in the drive and then, using the ImgBurn software, select the ‘Create Image’ option to make an ISO image of the game. You will need adequate hard drive space to accommodate the image.

Once the image has been created, you can remove the original disk and insert a blank disk. Then, using the ‘Write Image’ option, you can burn the ISO file, that is stored on your hard drive, directly to the blank disk. With that, your job is done and now you have a backup disk for your top games.
