The Pokémon game has gained considerable popularity on several consoles as well as mobile-based platforms, which include Nintendo DS, Gameboy, Gamecube, iOS, and Android. The mobile platforms require emulators to run the game. Though the game is fun to play, it is limited, and one wouldn’t take much time to finish playing all the editions. Hence, Techspirited brings to you some other games similar to the Pokémon series. Take your pick.
Did You Know?
Similar to a Pokédex in Pokémon, the Micromon game consists of a device called the m-linker, which has the database for records of the micromon (monsters) the player has seen and caught. It also gives suggestions on areas to find particular types of micromons.
These games are like Pokémon because they belong to the same genre and follow similar plots. Most of them, like Pokémon, are role-playing simulation games which require the player to assume the role of a character in the game, and explore, interact, and complete missions and objectives in the game world.
Role-playing games get more addictive because of the achievements and bonuses which unlock while playing. For instance, in Pokémon, as a player wins Pokémon battles, he acquires a new Pokémon or evolves in the existing Pokémon. Similar is the gameplay of the following 8 Pokémon clones. Some games can be downloaded for both Android as well as iOS, whereas some have only been developed for the iOS platform.
Developer: MOGA Studios
Compatibility: iOS 4.1 and up
The gameplay is very similar to Pokémon, and consists of different monsters which the player manipulates throughout the game. Every monster has one of the six powers: aerial, hydro, fire, mineral, normal, and special. The monsters can get burnt, frozen, could sleep, or even experience a decrease in power; quite similar to the ‘paralyzed’, ‘burnt’, ‘confused’, concepts in Pokémon.
Diamonds are like dollars in this game. The most ideal way to spend them is by buying golden or silver eggs.
The game requires a one-time payment of $0.99.

The game is very tempting due to the epic battle system and 28 different kinds of monsters, plus rare monsters. Your monster would grow bigger with every level; and gigantic in the end. You’ll find this game interesting, actually amazing. A game with a gameplay similar to Pokémon, but with better graphics and texture quality. Many of the monsters look quite similar to Pokémons, and even the functions associated with these monsters, like taming, evolving, or training, show a lot of resemblance. It also includes fictional elements like scrolls and magic, which can be used to evolve a common monster to a rarer one. Enjoy this cool adventure game and make your way through hundreds of levels, as you collect more monsters than you think you can. Remember that this game requires Internet connectivity, as it supports multiplayer gaming, so having a working Wi-fi connection would be ideal.
Use the synthesis function to merge monsters to create rare and powerful monsters, and add them to your party, especially before the ladder tournament.
The game is free for both platforms.
Developer: Outplay Entertainment

Another good Pokémon clone is Monster Legacy. It features enhanced structures and a 3D graphical user interface. The colorful world of ML with all its flora, fauna, miniature islands, and tiny structures, would make you fall in love with the game. A player can explore the world, customize his/her ranch, collect wild monsters and train them, evolve them, and also host an online player versus player (PvP) battle; all this while on an adventure-filled trip to the magical world of Arborea. To describe the game in a line, we would say ML has used the Pokémon algorithm and constructed something new and better around it. Go check it out. (The game has also been featured as an editor’s choice on the Apple app store.)
Look for coins in jars, chests, and other objects; bushes hold wild monsters which can be won via a battle.
