PS3 Move Shooting Games

Video game genres are varied from action and role playing to kiddie and strategy. A sub-genre of action video games is the shooter genre of games, whose popularity soared due to titles like Doom and Counter Strike. Scroll below for a look at shoot em' up titles which are compatible with the PS3 Move controller.
Rave Uno
No game genre tests a player's reaction time and alertness like a shooting game. Having a quick trigger finger does not guarantee success, you must know how and when to shoot and how to manage your resources and environment. While playing, your controller should support your shooting skills, not hamper them. That being said, a responsive controller is the PS3 Move. Instead of a traditional controller, which requires 2 hands to hold and buttons at your thumbs, the Move translates your movements on screen, on just moving the controller, promising a more realistic and active gaming style. Read on for the shooting games for the PS3 Move, to keep your itchy trigger finger happy!

PS3 Move Shooting Games

Killzone 3
  • First person shooter
  • Developed by Guerrilla Games
  • Released in 2011
Description: The classic good vs. evil battle... with pulsating non-stop in-your-face action. Keep your trigger finger ready and set your reaction time to "super alert", when you are playing this fourth entry in the Killzone saga. The story is pretty simple and not really much to think about but this game promises an edge-of-your-seat shooting experience. 3D rendering allows for such clear, realistic graphics, you can almost feel the smoke and dust from the falling buildings and even the effect of bullets whizzing by you, by just an inch. The game environment is detailed beautifully and very diverse, ranging from frigid Arctic landscapes to a gloomy, dark jungle. Plus you can play with the PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter controller, an actual gun styled motion controller! So instead of looking up and down with the normal controller, you can actually point and shoot. You can team up with some buddies and play split-screen or join the immense online gaming community for multiplayer mode.

MAG
  • First person shooter
  • Developed by Zipper Interactive
  • Released in 2010
Description: Not a fan of solitary campaign modes and solo shooting? Like being part of a shooting squad or team, with someone at your back? MAG is a shoot' em up Move compatible title exclusively designed for multiple players. And just like a real task force, the teams are made of 8 member squads, that form platoons and a company. The team leader is decided based on highest ranking stats and scores. You can even choose what skill class you feel best suited to like Assault, Marksmen etc. This game has to be commended for the very specialized and thorough military style division and functioning. Very crisp and intense gameplay and graphics ensures a realistic and action-packed experience.

SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs
  • Third person shooter
  • Developed by Zipper Interactive
  • Released in 2011
Description: Shooting games are not all just about picking up a gun and shooting. There are strategies to think of, tactical positions to consider, weaponry pros and cons. If you are a squad leader or captain, your decisions make or break a mission's success. SOCOM 4 employs a third-person viewpoint and puts you, the player, in the leader seat in-charge of a tactical 5 member task squad. Plan your mode of operation and fight, leaving no man behind. The stakes are stacked against you, time is slowly closing in on you and the fate of a nation depends on your leadership skills. This is a title that combines your fighting and planning skills, as squad members look to your guidance for a mission.

Dead Space: Extraction
  • First person shooter
  • Developed by Visceral Games Eurocom
  • Released in 2011
Description: This title is the prequel story in the Dead Space series. As such, it lulls the player into the dark and chilling truth behind the Necromophs (zombies) and what really happened. For the fainthearted, beware, the game play is very tense and rather frightening, you never know what is going to come out from the shadows and attack you. Your gun and a telekinetic ability are your two best friends, keep them close and try not to lose your wits. Audio and game play effects are primarily designed to freak you out, so this title is realistically like starring in a zombie movie. For Dead Space fans, this game explains the actual origins and beginning of the series and new players will not be disappointed with the animation quality and gameplay.

The Shoot
  • First person shooter
  • Developed by Cohort Studios
  • Released in 2011
Description: This is a lighter in story but unique title that uses a light gun or guided shot game approach. It has an arcade flair and style, with elements such as civilians popping up and enemies hiding behind them and Hollywood movie styled playing environment. So if you are looking for a very authentic shooter title, do not opt for The Shoot. But if you want a fun and enjoyable title, that brings the gaming parlor into your home, then this title is the ultimate choice.

Upcoming PS3 Move Shooting Games

Resistance 3 is the fourth game in the Resistance shooter series and is expected in September 2011. Improved gameplay, a new storyline and added weaponry are amongst its features. What you should be waiting for is BioShock Infinite from Irrational Games. The BioShock series is known for its amazing combination of intense and riveting story or background, as well as fast, violent and off-the edge gameplay. This upcoming title takes place in the fictional city of Columbia and you, a tired and beaten detective, must rescue a damsel from a wicked guardian. It's not so one-dimensional, the plot is so full of twists and turns, it should have been a movie. And the chief antagonist, the Songbird, is a thrilling and impressive foe, not your average robot. Plus you fight on Earth, in the sky and in a very, very fast and volatile environment. The only downside is the release date, mid-2012.

There may be few shooting games but one good thing is the difference in gameplay and style. Variety is the spice of life and the same applies for video games. Shoot em' up titles are so engrossing and intense, you'll find yourself viewing life through a cross hair or scoping out locales. With the PS3 Move in your gaming hand, shooting at stuff just got better.
